Recently, Life Church Newcastle have taken part in CityServe Newcastle which is an initiative for Christian churches in the local region, organising an annual mass mobilisation of volunteers to serve the local city. It is a unique collaborative approach – linking church, business, council and communities – and one that has been serving cities since starting in 2012.
CityServe has completed hundreds of projects and mobilised 1,000’s of volunteers. Projects have included the renovation of six surf clubs, regeneration of derelict buildings, rejuvenation of sporting ovals, parks and playgrounds, and repair to community halls and public gardens.
CityServe provides an outlet for people to give back and serve their community and it is an inspiring example of the Church unifying together to transform their cities through service.
